Thank you for your interest in Mary's Edible Creations. I hope you will consider me for your next event. Please scroll to the bottom for commonly asked questions and answers. Ingredients: Our Commitment to "from scratch" baking:
From the utilization of farm fresh chicken eggs to the commitment to resist the box. Many of our flavors are seasonal, aligning with our commitment to bake with fresh, seasonal, local ingredients.
Cake Serving Sizes: When preparing to order a custom cake, the most important question you need to ask yourself is: how many servings do you need? Custom cakes are priced based on serving sizes. I think you'll find my servings sizes are very generous. When gathering quotes from other bakers it's especially important to compare serving sizes. I price based on 2"x2" servings while most use 2"x1.5" for party cakes and 1"x1" for wedding cakes.
You may be asking yourself why, when this obviously cuts into my profit margin. The answer is simple, I want everyone at your party to be able to have a reasonable piece of cake, not everyone is on a diet and will be happy with a sliver. When your guests are happy, you are happy. This is the serving chart I will use to determine your quote:
What is a Cottage Kitchen? I operate Mary's Edible Creations under the guidelines set forth under the cottage kitchen law. The cottage kitchen guidelines allow home bakers to sell shelf stable, home baked items directly to customers. What is Shelf Stable: You may wonder what shelf stable means? In short, it means whatever leaves my kitchen has to be able to sit out on a counter for several days without showing signs of rot or deterioration. Restrictions: Due to the cottage kitchen guidelines, you may find I can not make certain items you would like to purchase. Some examples are: chocolate covered strawberries, pumpkin pie, cheesecake, cream cheese frosting (made with real cream cheese), whipped cream frosting, ice cream and cookies iced with royal icing. I do strive to offer shelf stable alternatives whenever possible.
